22/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - As expected, the European Central Bank (ECB) did not issue a monetary policy declaration after the meeting on Thursday of its Governing Council. The next meeting of the Governing Council on interest rates will be held on 5 June. The ECB is to meet every two weeks but in principle does not discuss interest rates except during the first session of the month, even if it gives itself the right, if needed, to intervene at any moment on interest rates.
