22/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - After presenting its proposal on 12 May on the budget 2002 surplus to be reversed this year in the Member States (preliminary draft amending budget No 3/2003: EUROPE of 13 May, p.12), the European Commission is to adopt, on Wednesday, a preliminary draft correcting budget (No 4/2003) also concerning EU budget receipts. This proposal, which is essentially of a technical kind but which is likely to interest EU Member State Finance Ministers, mainly specifies the breakdown between member States of financing for budgetary compensation in favour of the United Kingdom (the "British cheque").
