22/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the European Commission decided to authorise under the Mergers Regulation, the acquisition by the Italian energy company ENI S.p.A. of a stake in Union Fenosa Gas SA. Union Fenosa Gas is a subsidiary that is completely owned by Union Fenosa SA. Once the deal is made, Union Fenosa Gas will be jointly controlled by ENI and Union Fenosa. The deal was notified to the Commission on 11 April 2003 and was examined through simplified procedure.
