Legal Committee's new decisions rule out hopes of rapid settlement

Brussels, 31/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - Decisions taken on Tuesday by the European Parliament's Legal Committee do not move in the direction of striking a compromise deal with the Council over the controversial issue of the terms and conditions for MEPs. Adopting the report by German Social Democrat Willi Rothley by 17 to 3 with 3 abstentions, the EP's Committee called for a parliamentary indemnity of 50% of the basic salary of a judge at the European Court of Justice, in other words around...
