More stringent measures for shark fishing

Brussels, 31/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - Last Thursday, the EP adopted (383 votes to 54 and 81 abstentions) a report by Elspeth Attwool (ELDR, UK) which amends, in the sense that it makes it more ambitious, the proposal to prohibit the discarding of shark bodies (often still alive) into the sea after the fins that are prized for the market have been cut off.
