In favour of making the programme for retraining fishermen more flexible, under the EU/Morocco agreement

Brussels, 31/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the EP adopted (357 votes for, 38 against and 29 abstentions) a resolution by British Conservative Struan Stevenson inviting the Commission to amend as a matter of urgency the programme for retraining Community fishermen and recycling Community vessels. The programme was introduced in 2001 to face up to the economic and social consequences of expiry of the EU/Morocco fisheries agreement. The EP explains that fishermen experience...
