ECHO partners at work but with restricted means due to insecurity - most worrying concern is water shortage in the southern part of the country

Brussels, 31/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - Most of the humanitarian aid for Iraq financed by the Union via ECHO (European Community's Humanitarian Aid Office) is focused on Baghdad and Basra. According to the European Commission, the most worrying thing to date remains the severe water shortage in the southern part of the country, and in Basra in particular where half the population is still deprived of access to drinking water, as well as to the west of Baghdad where electricity and water...
