08/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament legal committee adopted by 28 votes for and 3 against, with one abstention (co-decision, first reading), the report by Spanish Socialist Manuel Medina Ortega on the proposal on the new directive banning tobacco advertising and sponsoring by the tobacco industry. It supported substantial modifications to these proposals whereby the European Commission reacted to the Court of Justice's decision by cancelling the 1998 directive. EUROPE will...
