08/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - An EP delegation is in Pakistan to monitor the election on 10 October. In a press release, Maria Luisa Morgantini (GUE/NGL), a member of the delegation criticised the new electoral law and absence of two political representatives in the first round of elections - Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto (dismissed from their functions following charges of corruption).
