Switzerland, Luxembourg and Austria regard as "counterproductive" sanctions against Switzerland to speed-up conclusion of agreement with the country on the tax on savings

Luxembourg, 08/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - To threaten Switzerland with sanctions to move forward in negotiations over the tax on savings would be "difficult to accept", whereas the "opinion has hardened in Switzerland", noted the President of the Swiss Confederation, Kaspar Villiger on Tuesday at the end of a meeting of EU and EFTA finance ministers in Luxembourg. Luxembourg and Austria spoke along these lines in discussions over possible sanctions against Switzerland in the affair of the tax...
