British fibre-optics components maker BOOKHAM (turnover £12.7 million during the first half of 2002) has bought two divisions of Canadian NORTEL for an estimated $112 million. The move will result in BOOKHAM's turnover increasing four-fold, rising to third largest fibre-optics maker. The two divisions, whose activities are located in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the United States and Canada, achieved a turnover of around $30 million during the second quarter of the year.
