Brussels/Strasbourg, 24/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - European Socialist leaders welcomed the victory of the Social-Democrat Party of Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder in the Bundestag elections of 22 September: the leader of the Party of European Socialists, British Labour MP Robin Cook, and the President of the European Parliament's Socialist Group, Spanish Socialist Enrique Baron, stressed the importance of this result, not only for Germany, but for Social-Democracy in Europe.
