Counter position of United States and sixteen other countries on protection of geographical names for wines and spirits

Brussels, 24/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - The United States put all its force into the negotiation on protecting the geographical names of wines and spirits, negotiation that really took off last week in Geneva. It rallied to a proposal rivalling that by the Europeans, considered "too binding" (see EUROPE of 16/17 September, p.9).
