Warsaw may accept transition period of 3 years for direct aid but with a starting level that is higher than 25%

Brussels, 25/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - Poland may accept a transition period of a maximum of 3 years after accession (2004-06) for the gradual introduction of direct European payments to Polish farmers, but the level proposed by the Commission for 2004 - 25% of the normal rate paid to E15 farmers - is reckoned to be too low by the Polish government.
