Parliament calls for establishing of European Centre for prevention of fires and to adapt Structural Fund programmes

Strasbourg, 12/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - Following the summer fires in Greece, Spain, France, Italy. Portugal (and the Balkans), the European Parliament adopted a resolution by several group in which, while regretting that a Community forestry policy is "non-existent", it call for in particular the European Commission to: - create a European Centre for the prevention of fires responsible for systematically studying the phenomenon and to introduce new prevention techniques and to fight...
