The Japanese NOMURA will acquire for GBP 225 million FIRST QUENCH , the main chain of wine and spirit shops in the United Kingdom, until then controlled by the British group WHITBREAD and PUNCH. FIRST QUENCH had a turnover of GBP 1.3 billion for the 1999/2000 financial year and included 2,500 shops.
