Monday's Council will seek a compromise on road transit in Austria, review shipping safety and adopt decisions on road safety and the interoperability of rail

Brussels, 23/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The question of road traffic in Austria and "ecopoints" is the only controversial item on the agenda of the Transport Council taking place on Monday 26 June in Luxembourg. The five Member States most concerned are still opposed to the system proposed by the European Commission, which will have to take a decision if the Council cannot come to agreement in the next three months.
