EU envoy to visit Lebanon to assess the situation in the wake of the Israeli withdrawal

Brussels, 29/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - Last week, the Portuguese Presidency released the following statement, on behalf of the European Union.

"The European Union has been closely following the situation in Lebanon, and welcomes the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Southern Lebanon. It expresses its hope that this move will facilitate reconcilement and reconstruction in the region.
