European Metalworkers' Federation calls for measures to save shipyard jobs

Brussels, 11/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - A delegation of European shipyard workers is to meet the industry ministers during the morning of 18 May, just before the Council which must examine the report by the European Commission on shipbuilding in the world (see EUROPE of 4 May, p.13). They plan to put pressure on the ministers to obtain the adoption of concrete measures allowing jobs in this sector to be saved.
