ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) industrial gases

After 10 months of fruitless discussions with US anti-trust authorities, AIR LIQUIDE and AIR PRODUCTS have decided to drop their planned friendly takeover of Britain's BOC. The go-ahead by American authorities was the last barrier to the operation. EUROPE would point out that this bid, which had the support of BOC's leaders, was launched on 13 July 1999 at the price of GBP 14.6 per share. See EI of 15 July 1999.
