Parliament calls on all EU institutions to oppose patent opening path to human embryo cloning

Brussels, 31/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - In adopting a joint resolution on the granting of a patent to an invention concerning human cells and covering the production and possible cloning of genetically modified human embryos, the European Parliament expressed its deep shock at the delivery of a patent by the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich to the University of Edinburgh. The Parliament undertakes, if the legal possibility exists, to rapidly oppose the patent and call on the other EU...
