Austria's President recommends Community examination and decision-making mechanism in case a Member State should be suspected of straying from European values

Lisbon, 23/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - As was mentioned in yesterday's EUROPE, the President of Austria, Thomas Klestil has written to the President of the European Council, Antonio Guterres to suggest the creation of a Community examination and decision-making mechanism, to be brought in should a Member State be suspected of straying from the European values enshrined in the Treaty.
