- Italy: THERMES DE MONTECATINI SPA, 50% owned by the Tuscany Region and 50% by the Commune of Montecatini, has issued a call for tenders in order to open up the capital of the thermal baths to national and international investors. In the framework of this operation, a new joint stock company will be created; it will be 10% owned by THERMES DE MONTECATINI and 90% by private investors. The deadline for submitting bids, which will have to respect several conditions, including a minimum investment of ITL 40 billion, is 20 May 2000. THERMES DE MONTECATINI SPA manages nine spas which provide 800,000 treatments for over 80,000 clients a year, for turnover of ITL 12.7 billion and a workforce of 263.
