Demonstration of Migrants Forum

Brussels, 23/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - The EU Migrants Forum is organising for Friday a symbolic gathering before the seat of the EU Council. Its president, Mr Saïd Charchira, accompanied by representatives of several NGOs, will be received by a member of Javier Solana's cabinet, Secretary General of the Council and Mr CFSP. The celebrities present will include European MEP Sarah Ludford, to whom the Migrants Forum will pay tribute for the report that she presented last week to the plenary session of the European Parliament, which approved it.

The Migrants Forum will, on this occasion in Council, give its support (with some remarks) to the two draft directives on banning all discrimination, and will call for the right of vote to be granted at European elections and at local elections for third country nationals having legally resided in the EU for at least 5 years.
