Volkswagen's acquisition of Europcar is authorised

Brussels, 21/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the acquisition of the motor vehicle rental company Europcar International by the German vehicle manufacturer Volkswagen. Europcar was until now owned by Volkswagen and Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits, a subsidiary of Accor. The Commission's anti-trust services found that the operation "does not lead to market share additions in any of the markets concerned" by the VW/Europcar venture. In addition, the...
