The British groups CGU (stock market capitalisation of GBP 10.4 billion) and NORWICH UNION (stock market capitalisation of GBP 8.4 billion) have announced their merger, creating a new group called CGNU, which will be the number one British insurer and Europe's fifth-ranking firm, with "strong positions" in Europe. The new venture will have annual premium income of GBP 26 billion, with 25 million clients and 66,000 employees. The two partners added that CGU shareholders would own around 58.5%...
