According to Süddeutsche Zeitung, Germany's BERTELSMANN will be selling by March at the latest its shares in AOL EUROPE, a 50-50 joint venture with AOL -AMERICA ONLINE. According to the daily, the buyer is none other than AOL, which is in the process of merging with TIME WARNER (see EI of 12 January), and which will buy 35 to 40% of the shares for DEM 15 billion, with the remainder being sold on the stock exchange for DEM 20 billion.
