EU loan to Ukraine for 2026 and 2027 - European Commission studies several options to bypass Hungary’s veto

The European Commission is still unable to publicly detail the options for bypassing Hungary’s veto on the financing of the €90 billion loan to Ukraine for 2026 and 2027, while Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, currently campaigning for his political survival, insists that he will block all support for Kyiv as long as Russian oil deliveries to his country via the Druzhba pipeline are suspended (see EUROPE B13818A19).
