30/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 30 October, the European Commission approved a third extension of the Dutch ‘SDE++’ state aid scheme, which, from December 2020, aims to reduce polluting emissions by boosting renewable energy in the transport and heating sectors (see EUROPE 13219/18). Deemed to comply with the January 2022 ‘CEEAG’ guidelines for aid for environmental protection and energy (see EUROPE 12858/2), the ‘SDE++’ scheme will be in place until the end of 2029, with a budget of €50 billion. Amendments have been made to introduce support for existing electric boilers and a measure to address the increasing number of hours when electricity prices are negative. (MB)
