Renewable Energy Directive - European Commission fails to confirm any fraud in Chinese biodiesel

The European Commission has been unable to prove that Chinese biodiesel imported into the EU is generating fraud by being considered as a renewable fuel, which allows it to meet the objectives of the Renewable Energy Directive, according to the results of its investigation published on 18 July. In 2023, the German authorities asked the Commission to open an investigation, suspecting that Chinese biodiesel exporters did not really meet the renewable energy criteria.
