22/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 17 July, and until 22 September, the European Commission opened a call for contributions on a draft delegated regulation setting out the methods for certifying carbon removals. The initiative concerns activities where carbon dioxide is captured from the atmosphere and then permanently stored, in particular through direct capture (DACCS), biogenic capture (BioCCS) or biochar production. The text sets out requirements to ensure that activities comply with the quality criteria defined in Articles 4 to 7 of the regulation on the framework for the certification of carbon removals (see EUROPE 13354/3). These methods also include the elements specified in Annex I (https://aeur.eu/f/hyw ). For more information: https://aeur.eu/f/hyx (NP)
