22/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Disability Forum (EDF) is sounding the alarm about the inadequate consideration given to the rights of people with disabilities in the European Union’s climate policies. In a policy brief published on Wednesday 16 July, while the ‘European Green Deal’ promises to “leave no one behind”, EDF observes a series of shortcomings, particularly in the forthcoming revision of the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). As a result, the organisation has put forward recommendations such as the mandatory participation of disabled people in implementation dialogues, the creation of a dedicated profile for Disability Ambassadors within the Climate Pact Ambassadors, and the integration of accessibility criteria into climate investments. EDF calls on the European Commission to ensure a just, inclusive and human rights-based transition, in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
