CJEU advocate general says EU countries can, under certain conditions, support effectiveness of press publishers’ rights

In Italy, the company Meta Platforms Ireland, as an information society service provider, is challenging the compatibility of Italian legislation on the remuneration of press publishers with Directive 2019/790 on copyright and related rights as well as the powers of the Italian Communications Regulatory Authority (AGCOM) in this area (Case C-797/23).
