10/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 10 July, the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (European Chamber) announced on the social network X that a business roundtable had been scheduled for this coming 24 July, on the margins of the EU-China summit. Whether Chinese Premier Li Qiang, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and President of the European Council António Costa will attend has yet to be confirmed. According to the European Chamber—which is responsible for coordinating European companies’ participation in this roundtable—participation will be limited to global CEOs, global board members, and CEOs based in China. Initially, the EU-China summit was supposed to take place over the course of two days, on 24 and 25 July, with a business summit on the second day, but the Chinese hosts cut it short against a backdrop of heightened tensions on not only trade but also security (see EUROPE 13674/3).
