10/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday, 9 July, European Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Síkela reiterated during a debate in the European Parliament that the EU was “ready to support all stages of the UN-led process [of resolving the Cyprus issue] with all appropriate means at its disposal”. “We hope that the next round of such talks, scheduled for the 16 and 17 of July in New York, will also produce a positive result”, stressed the commissioner, reiterating that the outcome of the informal talks in March had been encouraging. Mr Síkela explained that the EU would continue to invest its political and financial capital in Cypriot reunification, “supporting dialogue and cooperation, implementing confidence-building measures [between the communities], and paving the way for formal settlement negotiations”.
