On Monday 7 July, US companies Apple and Meta announced that they had appealed the fines imposed by the European Commission in April (see EUROPE B13626A2) for non-compliance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
Apple, which has been hit with a €500 million penalty for its unfair terms for app developers using its Apple Store (see EUROPE B13438A15), said the fine was “unprecedented”, claiming the decision and penalty “go far beyond what the law requires”.
