European Commission refers Portugal to CJEU for failing to notify measures in area of excise duty

18/06/25 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 18 June, the European Commission decided to refer Portugal to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) for failing to fully transpose into national law the 2020 Directives on laying down the general arrangements for excise duty (recast) and on the harmonisation of the structures of excise duties on alcohol and alcoholic beverages (see EUROPE B12539A27).
