European Commission proposes including Ukraine in EU roaming area

On Tuesday 17 June, the European Commission proposed that Ukraine be included in the EU roaming area from 1 January 2026. This would be the first area in which the Internal market would be extended to Ukraine, with a view to the country’s future accession to the EU.

If the EU Council approves this decision, roaming charges will be abolished for Europeans travelling to Ukraine or Ukrainians travelling to the EU. This includes telephone network and internet data. In addition, the...
