18/06/25 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has sent a reasoned opinion to Greece and Finland for failing to fully transpose the revised Renewable Energy Directive (Directive (EU) 2023/2413) into national law. This directive, which has been in force since November 2023, includes measures to simplify and speed up authorisation procedures for renewable energy and related infrastructure projects. These measures had to be transposed by 1 July, 2024. The main provisions also include clear authorisation deadlines and the reinforcement of the role of single point of contact for applications , as well as the recognition of these projects as being of major public interest. Greece and Finland now have two months to comply, failing which the matter will be referred to the Court of Justice of the European Union. (PLD)
