14/05/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 14 May, the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) validated the agreements with the EU Council on driving licence revision and driving disqualifications. By 36 votes to 6, MEPs approved a uniform digital driving licence by the end of 2030 and harmonisation of medical requirements for drivers at European level (see EUROPE 13607/7). By 37 votes to 5, they also approved the Europe-wide application of driving licence suspensions or restrictions in the event of offences (see EUROPE 13608/4). These agreements still have to be validated by the EU Council, before being voted on by the European Parliament as a whole.
