According to IEA, sales of electric cars in Europe expected to reach 25% share by 2025

14/05/25 (Agence Europe) – According to a new report by the International Energy Agency (IEA) (https://aeur.eu/f/gt2 ), sales of electric cars are expected to exceed 20 million worldwide by 2025, accounting for more than a quarter of all cars sold. This expected growth will be led by China and Europe. According to the report, EU and UK emission standards will require an increase in the share of zero-emission car sales by 2025. Although sales in Europe stagnated in 2024 due to the weakening of subsidy schemes and other support policies, the share of electric car sales remained at around 20%. According to the IEA, political impetus is expected to boost sales in Europe to 25% by 2025, “despite flexibility given to automakers for meeting the 2025 EU emissions reduction target”. (PLD)
