03/02/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Union and the United Kingdom will hold a bilateral summit on “Monday 19 May”, with a view to putting their bilateral relations on a new footing, declared the President of the European Council, António Costa, on Monday 3 February, at the end of the informal ‘retreat’ of the Heads of State or Government of the EU countries. “There is so much to explore in the security and defence sectors”, said the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, adding that the bilateral summit would be held in the UK. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also spoke about trade and energy issues, which he said were in the interests of both the UK and the EU. (MB/CG/PD)
