03/02/25 (Agence Europe) – On 31 January, the European External Action Service (EEAS) announced the redeployment on the same day of the European Union Border Assistance Mission for the Rafah Crossing Point (EUBAM Rafah) “at the request of the Palestinians and Israelis, in agreement with the Egyptians and in accordance with the 2005 Agreement on Movement and Access (AMA)” (see EUROPE 13566/33). The EUBAM Rafah team will be deployed until the end of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement. The crossing has been reopened and is operational on the basis of the 2005 AMA. The mission has deployed a specialist team to enable Palestinian staff to reopen the crossing point and is monitoring the transfers. “This will allow for the transfer of individuals out of Gaza, including some who require medical treatment”, according to the EEAS.
