Launch of a call for proposals for Russian and Belarusian journalists exiled in EU

03/02/2025 (Agence Europe)On Monday 3 February, the European Commission published a call for proposals for independent journalists and media working in the EU who have been exiled from Russia and Belarus. This call for projects, the second of its kind after 2023, offers funding of €3 million. “Its overall goal is (...) to foster the coordination and consolidation of a pan-European platform or network of media hubs to promote the preservation of a pluralistic media environment. It aims at creating the conditions for exiled independent media and journalists to work in the EU so that they can continue producing content and distributing it to their audiences without any editorial interference”, said the Commission in a press release. In 2024, 1,500 independent journalists and editorial staff from Russia and Belarus fled or resettled in EU countries, according to the Commission. The call is open until 14 March 2025. To see the call: https://aeur.eu/f/fbn (CG)
