04/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 3 December, the European Commissioner for Preparedness, Crisis Management and Equality, Hadja Lahbib, strongly condemned the attacks carried out on Sunday by Sudanese paramilitary units, the Rapid Support Forces, on the Zamzam camp, which has been hosting a million displaced people and facing famine since last July. “Civilians must be protected and humanitarian assistance allowed without restriction”, said Ms Lahbib on X. According to humanitarian organisations, at least five people were killed and 18 injured in the bombardments, which led to the evacuation of a hospital and the suspension of healthcare operations in the camp, located near El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.
