European Commission approves two German aid schemes worth around €1 billion for pig farmers

On Tuesday, 30 January, the European Commission announced that it had approved two German aid schemes worth around €1 billion intended to support small and medium-sized livestock enterprises that are investing in upgrading pig breeding sites.

The first measure, which will apply until the end of 2030, has a budget of €675 million.

Under this first scheme, aid will be provided in the form of direct grants, covering up to 60% of eligible investment costs for upgrading pig breeding...
