13/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 13 October, the Council of the European Union formally appointed Frenchwoman Thérèse Blanchet as Secretary General of the EU institution, in line with the political agreement of the EU Heads of State or Government unveiled at the Prague Summit (see EUROPE 13038/4). Currently Jurisconsult of the Council and of the European Council, Ms Blanchet will take up her new post on 1 November for a term of five years. The Secretary General will contribute to the preparation of the European Council and attend meetings of Heads of State or Government. She succeeds Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen from Denmark.
