28/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission welcomed the launch of the United Nations’ Global Plan for Road Safety on Thursday 28 October. The plan is intended to define the means necessary to achieve the objective of a 50% reduction in the number of deaths and injuries on roads by 2030. In addition, the Global Plan also supports the targets set by the European Commission, which also aims to achieve a 50% reduction in road deaths and injuries in the EU by 2030, with a view to achieving ‘zero deaths and zero serious injuries’ by 2050 (see EUROPE 12690/11). On 5 October, the European Parliament adopted a report on the main measures to be taken in the field of road safety for the period 2021-2030 (see EUROPE 12805/19). (TM)
