02/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – On 30 May, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the foreign ministers of Germany, France and the United Kingdom emphasised their deep disappointment at the US decision on 27 May to end the three waivers covering key nuclear projects in the nuclear agreement with Iran (JCPOA), including the Arak Modernisation Project (see EUROPE 12495/34). In a joint statement, they said that “these projects, endorsed by UN Security Council resolution 2231, serve the non-proliferation interests of all and provide the international community with assurances of the exclusively peaceful and safe nature of Iranian nuclear activities”. The European governments have stated that they are consulting with their partners to assess the consequences of the decision by the United States. (CG)
