02/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 29 May, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) announced that its Supervisory Coordination Network on Brexit had finished the task for which it was set up. The purpose of the SCN, which was created in May 2017, was to foster convergence in the way national authorities approached the assessment of applications by British companies for permission to continue operating in the EU. In three years, it has held discussions on 250 relocation cases regarding companies or activities, and more than 150 follow-up discussions on these cases. The SCN will hold a final follow-up meeting before the end of the year to take stock of the relocation situation and close its work. ESMA has promised that it will continue to work with national authorities in preparation for the end of the transition period. (MF)
